Coventry City Development Director Steve Waggott has said that the Sky Blues could be landed with another transfer embargo if they fail to hit the 65% Financial Fair Play targets.

Speaking in an interview about how Financial Fair Play will impact on Coventry City when they become a League One club on June 1st, Mr Waggott said to Sky Blue Player: “ "The rules are getting much more refined around football now. What we have to be careful of is, not all of what we say is turnover counts towards the Fair Play.

"If we sell an item in the shop, a percentage won't go towards 'eligible income' as they will be attributed towards the cost of that item or shop staff wages for example.

"Gross sales of tickets, both season tickets and match tickets, count towards so it is really important people buy season tickets and get behind the club and it has been great to see them doing that.

"Eligible income isn't just turnover so we need to make sure we hit that balance. It is all about that balance so we can operate with an affordable squad.

"I don't really want to say this at this juncture, but if we don't hit that 65% target, then they will impose sanctions which could include us being back under another transfer embargo next season."
