Coventry Sphinx had to make do with a third place in the Midland Alliance table after losing their final league game of the season.
Sphinx took on Ellesmere Rangers at Sphinx Drive but fell a goal down to a Dale Williams goal in the eighth minute.
A crowd of sixty saw Chris Hayden put through his own net in the 75th minute and although Andrew Williams pulled one back with five minutes remaining, Sphinx went down to defeat and a third place finish after Westfields beat Atherstone Town 4-1.
