Booing Didn't Work - Adams

Micky Adams felt that the booing by Derby County supporters of Stern John and Dennis Wise only sought to inspire the pair.

The City boss said: "A lot of footballers these days do a lot of talking and so do managers but the best place to do your talking is out on the pitch. "Derby did not see the best of Stern while he was on loan but he did not play too many games. "Fans should understand that booing certain individuals like Stern and Dennis only inspires them."

On Dennis Wise's debut, Adams added: "Dennis is terrific, a role model. "Some people might think that's a strange thing to say, given his past, but in the last 20 years I don't think there's been anyone better in terms of controlling the ball, winning tackles and breaking up the play. "We made the worst possible start but we got closer to Derby in the second half and got our reward."
