According to newspaper reports Coventry City have asked Kevin Blackwell to take charge of the club until the end of the season.

The Mail Online reported that Blackwell has been chosen ahead of former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton because he has more experience of managing a club on a tight budget.

Blackwell left Sheffield United in August 2010 by mutual consent after making a poor start to the season. He had previously led the Blades to a promotion  play off final place in 2008-09, but lost to Burnley.

Blackwell has also managed Leeds United and Luton Town
