Leon Best has been called up by the Republic Of Ireland U21's.

The City striker is named in a eighteen strong squad to face Montenegro on March 25th at Galway United's Terryland Park in a European U21 Championship Qualifier.

Other Championship players in the squad are: Darren Randolph (Charlton), Stephen Gleeson (Wolves), Stephen Quinn (Sheffield United), Darron Gibson (Manchester United - on loan to Wolves), Chris McCann (Burnley), John-Joe O'Toole (Watford), Billy Clarke (Ipswich Town - on loan to Falkirk) and Andy Keogh (Wolves).

Best meanwhile, is desperate for a goal. Speaking to the CT,he said:  "I am dying for a goal and I or any of the others just need a little bit of luck because Scotty Dann had one cleared off the line and we just need something like that to go in for us and then anything could happen.

"It is a difficult role to play up on your own but the lads make it easy by sending quality balls to me. If they get the ball up to me then my job is to hold it up and keep possession, and I think we have got to grips with that in the last few games and now we just need the final bit to drop into place, and the goals to come quick.

"I would rather play minging all game and score two goals to make sure we win. That's what football is. Sometimes it's ugly and it doesn't matter if you play amazing all game and lose 2-0. You would rather just get three points for the team, we we just need to start grinding it for the team."
