Former Coventry City forward John Aloisi has been sacked as the manager of Melbourne Heart.

Aloisi, who signed former Sky Blues Michael Mifsud, was eighteen months into a three year contract but with his side not having won a game in the A-League so far this season and fans calling for his head for the last few weeks, the board acted after a 1-0 defeat to Wellington Phoenix and  sacked him.

In a statement, Heart Chairman Peter Sidwell said: "I have spoken with John and he was gracious and understood the club's decision."
