Adams On Signing

City Manager Micky Adams has been explaining his reasons for signing Lloyd Dyer, Kevin Pressman and Shaun Goater.

Adams told Sky Blue World: "People will put tags on Lloyd Dyer but he certainly has got terrific pace. I've watched him in the last three reserve games at West Brom and I've been impressed with him every time. He can play left-back or left midfield but the one thing about him is his terrific pace."

Moving on to Kevin Pressman, whose arrival at Highfield Road was not greeted with over whelming enthusiasm for the portly custodian who has played against City for the team at the other end of the M69. "We're disappointed that Ian Bennett decided to go back to Birmingham and effectively do nothing. It left us short of a goalkeeper," said Adams.

He added: "Looking around at what was available, there wasn't too much. I know Kevin from my time at Leicester. I took him there as a number two goalkeeper behind Ian Walker and unfortunately, Ian got injured. Kevin came in and did a good job. He's an experienced campaigner and if he gets thrown into any situation, it won't phase him. He's been there before."

His third addition Shaun Goater has already been in action for the Sky Blues coming on as a sub in the testimonial at Worcester last Thursday. Adams said: "Shaun is an experienced centre-forward. "For whatever reason, he's not featured at Reading of late and I felt that in the centre-forward position, we're lacking goals and need to freshen it up a little bit. I think Shaun will add competition for places in that department."
