Micky Adams has defended his decision to sign Trevor Benjamin from Northampton.

The signing of the former Leicester reserves striker is seen as an act of desperation and barrel scraping by a number of City supporters.

The City boss said: "What you see is what you get with Trevor and it's a fantastic opportunity for him to come in and play some football.

"He'll be thrust straight into the side and he'll either sink or swim. Trevor never let me down at Leicester and he's an honest lad.

"Hopefully, by bringing him into the side and telling him he's going to be a regular will give him the confidence to go out there and prove people wrong."
