Sky Blues On The Road - Rotherham

To go out and enjoy yourself on New Years Eve or to travel to the dark, satanic town of Rotherham is a question many City supporters will be asking themselves.

And after the poor performance at second from bottom Gillingham, many will be opting for a night with family and friends.

Historically, City have not done well against sides bottom of the table and the Millers will fancy their chances against the Sky Blues after they drew with West Ham who were helped by two lucky penalties at Millmoor on Tuesday.

City have not scored at this South Yorkshire enclave since relegation from the Premiership in 2001 and have not won there for fifty years, so unless the players do regroup and sort themselves out, the calls for the removal of manager Peter Reid and those who employed him will continue to grow.

Defeat on the opening day of 2005 could also see City fail into the bottom three and Peter Reid again has promised to ring the changes.

Luke Steele who had a nightmare by his standards at Gillingham could make way for Scott Shearer with Stuart Giddings coming in for Steve Staunton. Stern John and Neil Wood could also find themselves left out of the starting line-up.

Stephen Hughes who has been City’s best player this season has a suspected broken nose and is subject to a late fitness test whilst Eddy Johnson is struggling with a toe injury.

Rotherham who have been taken over by fans group Millers 2005,will be able to play Shaun Barker before he serves a one game suspension. Keeper Mike Pollitt has been in fine form so there will be no place for former Sky Blue Gary Montgomery.

Millers boss Ronnie Moore who has seen City Reserves more times than Peter Reid this season said "Confidence is good around the club but we now need to find championship-winning form if we are to pull ourselves away from the bottom of the table." As his side took four points over the Christmas period compared to no points for the Sky Blues.

Those planning on going to Rotherham are advised to get a ticket today as Rotherham charge those who pay on the gate an additional two pounds on top of the £15 normal admission price.
