Coming To Cov - Hull City

Last updated : 23 September 2005 By Covsupport

Draw specialists Coventry City take on Hull City at the Arena in search of their second win of the season and to keep their unbeaten run at the Arena going.

Micky Adams will again be sweating on players recovering from injury. Richard Duffy, Matt Heath, Marcus Hall all missed the midweek defeat at Crystal Palace and Adams could again field Robert Page and Andy Whing as his central defenders.

Stephen Bywater will be back in goal after missing the defeat at Palace due to West Ham not wanting the keeper cup tied.

Hull City, managed by the highly respected Peter Taylor who has managed the English international side in an illustrious career, also have big injuries worries. The Tigers, promoted twice in the last two seasons, will be without Danny Coles who has a knee injury for the rest of the season. Ryan France who City were trailing when he was at Alfreton Town may start along side former City reserve team player Stephen McPhee.

The game will be refereed by Iain Williamson of Berkshire.

The last time the two sides met in a league match was back in 1966. Coventry City won 1-0 at Highfield Road whilst there was a 2-2 draw at Boothferry Park. This will be the 34th meeting between the two sides with Coventry City having won twelve of the encounters with seven draws scoring 44 goals compared to 46 by Hull City.

The sides did meet in a League Cup tie back in 1995. Coventry won 2-0 at Highfield Road and Nil Lampety scored the only goal of the game at Boothferry Park. As there was trouble at both of these games, you can expect a strong police presence at the Arena on Saturday. There was an FA Cup game between the two sides in 1973 which Coventry won 3-0.

The Sky Blues are five games without a win whilst Hull are four games without a win.

Season Ticket holders can bring a friend for a tenner to the game by producing voucher A and or B if you want a Watford ticket as well at the ticket office.

The game will be the last of the half-time smoking trial whereby supporters who smoke will be able to lit up at half-time only and only in the confines of the bowl.

Supporters are advised to refrain from parking in the Tescos car park unless you plan to spend the mandatory £25 either in Tescos or one of the other stores at Arena Park.

At the risk of being boring, again supporters are advised to take great care when crossing the Rowleys Green roundabout. The police have said that they expect a fatality on this roundabout, so don’t let it happen to you.
