AC CHIEVO VERONA 3-0 COVENTRY CITY

Coventry City were beaten 3-0 by AC Chievo Verona.

At the San Zeno Di Montagna Stadium, close to Lake Garda, Steven Pressley, who initially had said that this game was not taking place on a Wednesday, left out Reda Johnson and Marcus Tudgay for the second of City's four game Italian Tour against the flying donkeys of AC Chievo Verona

City in their yellow kit got off to a bad start, going a goal down after eighty seconds following a free kick which hit the wall and fell for Christano Biraghi to hit a screamer into the net.

As the sixteen City fans including three Italians watched on in a crowd of 600, Chievo scored a second after fifteen minutes thanks to some poor defending from City which saw Thomasz Kupisz head past Lee Burge.

Just before the half hour mark, Miller fired wide from long range, Swanson sent a free kick over the bar as did George Thomas with a 30 yard screamer.

In the 33rd minute, after Ryan Haynes had cleared off the line, Seaborne conceded a penalty from which Sergio Pellissier scored for Chievo's third goal.

Chievo made a number of changes at the break with the City boss waiting until the 62nd minute to bring on Lawton, Finch, Daniels, Allsopp, Phillips, Maddison and Danny Pugh.

The former Leeds player was involved straight away when City were awarded a 64th minute penalty. Danny Pugh stepped up but missed with his spot kick as the rain started to come down.

Chievo had a fourth goal ruled out but had been the better side against the Sky Blues.

City Team: Lee Burge (61 mins, Ryan Allsop); Jordan Willis (61, Aaron Phillips), Jordan Clarke (61, Andy Webster), Dan Seaborne, Ryan Haynes; Jim O’Brien (61, Ivor Lawton), Conor Thomas (61, Jack Finch), John Fleck (61, Billy Daniels), Danny Swanson (61, Danny Pugh); Shaun Miller (61, James Maddison), George Thomas.
