Hundreds of cyclists are set to head to Worcestershire next weekend for the Official Sportive of the Tour of Britain, the Tour Ride Worcestershire, on Sunday 9 October.

The mass participation event, which features three circular routes of 40, 75 and 100-miles, starting and finishing close to Worcester's famous racecourse, which will exchange its traditional silks and thorough breads for lycra and carbon fibre.

Building on the success of 2015 when over 800-riders took part, all three routes have been revised and improved to showcase some of the most attractive, and hardest, roads in Worcestershire, once again combining the roads of the River Severn valley with iconic climbs in the Malvern Hills, as used by previous editions of Britain's national Tour.

To celebrate the event every rider who enters will be placed into a Yellow Ticket prize draw to win some fantastic prizes, including a Tour of Britain Yellow Jersey presented by Eisberg, signed by 2016 overall winner Steve Cummings, which will be presented to the competition winner on the day.

Commenting on the Tour Ride Worcestershire, Tour of Britain Race Director Mick Bennett said; "2016 has been another fantastic year for cycling in this country capped by the huge crowds who turned out for the Tour of Britain.  What better way to celebrate than to join hundreds of other like minded cyclists and to take part in the Tour Ride sportive in Worcestershire.”

All three routes will begin from Hylton Road in Worcester from 8:00am on 9 October, finishing on the opposite bank of the River Severn within Worcester Racecourse where the  Tour of Britain finish straight will welcome riders home to the event village. All riders will receive a finisher's medal and a sponsor goodie bag upon completion along with a hot meal.

Entry is available in advance for £35 via tourride.co.uk with limited entries available in person on the afternoon of Saturday 8 and the morning of Sunday 9 October.

The Tour Ride, which was launched in 2009, is the official sportive of the Tour of Britain giving amateur cyclists the chance to have the professional experience and enjoy a full supported ride with feed stations on route stocked with products from official nutrition partners HIGH5 and Soreen, plus mechanical support from Vittoria and neutral service support vehicles from Brother.
