Warwicks Lose Wickets Cheaply

Warwickshire County Cricket Club lost wickets as rain continued to affect their second County Championship match of the season away to Lancashire.

On a bitterly cold day at Aigburth in Liverpool, the hosts resumed on Day Two on 127-5 and lost Gary Keedy without adding a run after he was caught by Barker off the bowling of Chris Wright.

Proctor and Cross added 43 before Wright had his third wicket of the innings when Cross was caught behind by Tim Ambrose after making 19.

Glen Chapple joined Proctor at the crease and steered Lancs through Lunch and into the second session before rain stopped play with Lancs on 228-7.

When play did resume, Darren Maddy struck to remove Chapple and Proctor and with Jeetan Patel mopping up, Lancs were all out for 250.

Varun Chopra was out without scoring in the first over and after Neil Carter had smashed a six into a burger van windowm ,he was caught behind by Cross off the bowling of Hogg.

Ian Bell came in but he had made 18 when he was caught by Cross to give a second wicket to Chapple.

it was 38-4 when Jim Troughton was caught by Croft. Will Porterfield added 21 as Warwicks closed on 68-5, some 182 runs behind.
