Bardiani CSF's Simone Sterbini took the victory on the fifth stage of the Tour Of Austria.

Stage five was from Millstatt to Dobratsch and was 155kms long. It was a stage which saw eight riders in Velerio Agnoli (Astana), Anthony Perez (Cofidis), Nick van der Lijke (Roompot), Simone Sterbini (Bardiani), Gavin Mannion (Drapac ), Andi Bajc (Amplatz BMC) and the two Austrians Stephan Rabitsch (Felbermayr Simplon Wels) and Matthias Krizek from team Roth, in the break with a lead of six minutes going past six lakes in Millstätter-, Brenn-, Afritzer-, Ossiacher-, Wörther- and Faaker See.

Krizek took all three of the sprints to move into the lead of the points competition before the leaders took on the Dobratsch.

This clmb saw the lead group disintegrate and Sterbini rode away to win in 3.36.43, some 2.02 ahead of David Belda and 2.05 ahead of Markus Eibegger.

The 22-year-old Simone Sterbini said about his win: "I'm just driving on and never thought of the stage win. Just three kilometers from the finish with about two minutes ahead I realised it,

"Belda went out and I attacked 500 meters from the finish. The Dobratsch suits me better than the Grossglockner, where I suffered right yesterday. It was a great day for me and my team. "
