Shaw Takes Mitchelton Bay Classic Third Stage

Pat Shaw of Avanti IsoWhey took the third stage of the Mitchelton Bay Classic in Australia.

Shaw won the sprint in Portarlington. ahead of Dan Fitter (State of Matter/MAAP) and Sam Spokes (Drapac) with winner of the first two stages Caleb Ewen of Orica GreenEdge in fourth place.

Chris Hamilton (Avanti IsoWhey) and Dan Fitter led for the first three laps of this hour race before being joined by Australian U23 road race and time trial champion Miles Scotson (Budget Forklifts).

Orica GreenEdge's Like Durbridge got up to Scotson as did Hamilton and Drapac's Peter Koning but they were caught on the final lap and it came down to a bunch sprint.

“I’m sitting on Caleb’s wheel getting the best run anyone could dream for, and I’m just lucky I got the job done,” Shaw said to cyclingnews.com. “I was just saying in the last corner ‘do not crash!’ I knew I had it. I’ve been working hard on my sprint.”
