Ruffoni Take Tour Of Austria Stage Six Win

Nicola Ruffoni won the bunch sprint on stage six of the Tour Of Austria.

The stage was 203.9kms long and from Graz to Stegersbach and saw a seven rider group get away on this flatish stage.

They were reeled in by the peloton which included race leader Jan Hirt who allowed Andrea Pasqualon (Roth) to take the sprint fter 61kms.

Vanotti, Evgeny Shalunov (Gazprom) and Nick van der Lijke (Roompot) were next to attack taking a four minute lead with the Roompot rider taking the second sprint.

Vanotti took the first climb but van der Lijke took the second and the KOM jersey.

van der Lijke set off on his own and was 2.20 ahead of the peloton with 25kms to go.

But with less than ten kilometres left, Bardiani CSF had brought everyone back and the bunch sprint was on.

Nicola Ruffoni came through to take the win ahead of Daniel Auer (Felbermayr) and Sylwester Janiszewski (Wibatech) and Hirt finished safely in the peloton to keep himself in the lead going into the finl stage. .
