Etixx Quick Step Wins Tour De San Luis Team Time Trial

Etixx Quick Step have won the 10th Tour De San Luis Team Time Trial in Argentina.

Australian side Drapac were the first team of twenty eight down the ramp on a 21km course which started and finished in El Durazno on a pleasant day with blue skies in a race which was a UCI 2.1 category.

Team Jamis and San Luis Argentina were next down the ramp but it was Drapac who were fastest at the intermediate checkpoint at Trapiche, setting a time of 11:42.63 and a finishing time to beat of 24:53.14.

Drapac were still ahead with a quarter of the teams finished but dropped down to third place when American team United Healthcare came home in 24:47, some six seconds quicker and Delko-Marseille set the second best time of 24:51.

AG2R La Mondiale were the first World Tour team down the ramp and it was no surprise that they were the quickest at the check point, going through in 11:37.

Tinkoff, complete with World Champion Peter Sagan went down the ramp, a couple of minutes before AG2R finished in 24:49.

Lampre-Merida could only finish in 25.08 as Sagan's Tinkoff team went through the checkpoint quickest in 11:37.12 and finished in 24.16 to take the lead.

Movistar, with Nairo Quintana, were the last team to set off and were on the road when Etixx Quick Step finished in 23.53.

Only Cannondale and Movistar were left to knock them off the lead and Cannondale finished in 24:52 with Movistar coming in eight seconds down to see Etixx Quick Step win the first stage and Max Richeze as the first race leader.
