Warwickshire's Jon Trott top-scored again for England but they crashed out of the ICC Cricket World Cup with a ten wicket defeat to Sri Lanka.

England batted first and lost Andrew Strauss for 5 and Coventry born Ian Bell for 25 before the ninth over.

Trott and Bopara came in and added sixty four before Bopara went for 31. The Warwickshire man continued to make runs along with Eoin Morgan, who made fifty from 55 balls before he was caught by Matthews.

Swann then went for a duck and with the score on 212, Trott who had made 86 from 115 runs was caught by Jayawardene off the bowling of Muralitharan.

Prior and Wright took the total to 229-6 from 50 overs.

It was a target that Sri Lanka found easy against a limp England attack. Tharanga made 102 and Dilshan 108 as they earned the victory with ten and a half overs to spare.
