Canty Wins Tour Of Austria Stage Three

Drapac's Brendon Canty took the win on the third stage of the Tour Of Austria.

In a race won by Peter Kennaugh of Team Sky in 2014, stage three was from Ardagger to Sonntagberg, 181.3kms long with Andrea Pasqualon in the lead.

Marcin Mrozek (CCC Sprandi Polkowice), Alessandro Vanotti (Astana), Anthony Perez (Cofidis) und Alexej Rybalkin (Gazprom-RusVelo) were in the first break of the day after ten kilometres before Frederik Backaert (Wanty-Group Gobert), who had joined the group took the first sprint and the first climb.

The leaders, which was down to Marcin Mrozek (CCC) , Alessandro Vanotti (Astana) and Perez of Cofidis got to 4.15 ahead.

As the climb approached with 120kms gone, the teams with climbers moved forward and knocked two minutes off the time of the front trio

With 25kms left, the gap stood at two minutes but ten kilometres later, Bardiani CSF and CCC Sprandi Polkowice caught them.

The final climb which was a category three climb was two kilometres long and away went Brendon Canty of Drapac to win in 4:59:20 ahead of Markus Eibegger of Team Felbermayr - Simplon Wels and Marek Rutkiewicz of Wibatech Fuji who came home sixteen seconds later.
