Marianne Vos of the Rabo Liv women cycling team took over the lead of the Women's Tour with a victory in Clacton.

Vos was in third place in a stage which started in Felixstowe and was 90kms long.

There was an early crash involving Laura Trott but she was back up and carried on as Lizzie Armitstead took the first sprint at Kesgrave after nineteen kilometres.

However, Armitstead was back down the field when Laws took the six points on the first Queen Of The Mountains climb at Freston after 31 kilometres of racing.

Five kilometres later and there was the second climb at Holbrook before another sprint at Thorpe Le Soken which was won by Marianne Vos ahead of Armistead.

That left Vos one second behind the race leader Rossella Ratto and they were closed down the attacks from Van Vleuten, Worrack & Villumsen as the race headed towards the seaside town of Clacton.

Cromwell did launch another attack but the peloton was altogether for the final kilometre and Marianne Vos got to the line to win ahead of 2.11.05 beating Emma Johannson, Wiggle Honda's Giorgia Bronzini and Lizzie Armitstead.

The win put Vos into the leaders jersey with an eight second lead ahead of Johannson and nine seconds ahead of Ratto with Lizzie Armitstead of the Boels Dolmans cycling team in fifth some eighteen seconds down.
