Movistar rider Francisco Ventoso won the sixth stage of the Giro D'Italia today.

With 20kms to go, it was down to three with Jaroslaw Popvych leading the way from Kristof Vandewalle and Veunchelenin a bid to stay clear of the peleton which including race leader Peter Veening and was now quickly gaining on them.

On his local roads, Stefano Pirazzi charged after the leading three before the attacks from the peleton including David Millar started to happen.

Kristof Vandewalle was in the lead as the race came out of a tunnel and headed down towards Fiuggi with 5kms left.

Millar took to the front again and Vandewaile was caught with 1.9km to go as this was now leading up to a battle of the sprinters. With one kilometre to go, it was anyone's race.
