Van Poppel Wins Tour De Walloonie Second Stage

Danny Van Poppel of Trek Factory Racing has won the second stage of the Tour De Walloonie.

Niki Terpstra was the leader for this second 171.4km stage from Beaufays to Bassenge.

Warnier took the the first KOM climb of the day before five riders in Tosh Van Der Sande, Burghardt, Berard, Jeandesboz and Delfosse got into the lead.

They mopped up the KOM points with Burghardt taking the points on the fifth climb and were a minute clear with 23kms to go.

Five kilometres later and they were brought back and Jens Juul Jensen launched a solo attack.

Jensen was caught and the race finished in a bunch sprint which was won by Danny Van Poppel on his 22nd birthday ahead Matti Breschel (TCS), Marcus Burghardt (BMC), Antoine Demoitié (WBC) and Danilo Napolitano of Wanty Group, followed by Kuznetsov, Tsatevich, Vangenechten,.Roux and Vallée.

Niki Terpstra of Etixx Quick Step continues to lead the race with a ten second lead over Topsport's Victor Campenaerts.
