Last updated : 29 June 2015 By Covsupport News Service

The following information has been issued for those who wish to see the opening stage of the 2015 Tour De France.

Saturday 4th July 2015 - First stage

The start of the Tour de France 2015 is on 4th July in Utrecht. We expect a lot of spectators along the 13.7 km route. Make sure you know where you want to be to experience this cycling spectacle. The advertising caravan starts at 12 noon and at 2 pm the first cyclist leaves the start stage.

Visit the Tour by public transport

In the city there will be as much room as possible for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. From the train stations the route is only a 15 minute walk. The NS runs extra and longer trains for the race cycling fans. The tram from IJsselstein and Nieuwegein to Utrecht runs as normal. The busses of U-OV have an alternative schedule. This tour schedule will be in effect from Friday 3rd July 8 pm to Sunday 5th July 4 pm.
Plan your journey before you leave.

To the start of the Tour de France by car

If you have to travel by car, travel together with others as much as possible. In the city priority is given to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport, so you can’t enter the city by car. You can park in the specially designed transfer centre at the edge of the city. By following the walking route you reach the route in about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you could use a shuttle bus.

Extra parking areas are temporarily arranged at The Wall, Papendorp, De Uithof and Groenekan.

Sunday 5th July 2015 - Second stage (Etappe 2)

The second stage of the Tour de France starts on Sunday 5th July and crosses 16 municipalities, ending at Neeltje Jans in Zeeland. There’s plenty of room along the 166 km long route to see the cyclists. Get there in time so you don’t have to miss anything. The start of the advertisement caravan is at 11:10 am, and the cyclists start at 1:10 pm.
From Utrecht to Neeltje Jans

On the road to Zeeland

On the route from Utrecht to Zeeland it’s easiest to access the cycling route by foot or bicycle if you live nearby or stay with someone who does. Some locations, like Gouda and Rotterdam, are easily accessible by train. You can also get close to the route by car. Please be informed that some roads are closed down and that you have to walk the last stretch to the route.

Arrival “Neeltje Jans”

The finish of the second stage is at Neeltje Jans. There is only limited room for visitors there. Neeltje Jans is easy to access by bicycle. On both sides of the Oosterscheldekering there will be large temporary bicycle parking areas. There will be around 15,000 bicycle parking areas. Those who come by car can park at Brouwersdam or at Neeltje Jans. There is a car park for slightly less than 5,000 vehicles, so be there early. You can also park in the area and continue by bicycle. Get there in time, though, because there’s limited space. If the car park is full, the access roads to Neeltje Jans will be closed off for all traffic – including cyclists.
