Schleck Takes Opening Criterium Stage

Frank Schleck took victory in the opening stage of Criterium International  race this afternoon in Corsica.

There was a sixteen man early break in the stage from Porto-Vecchio to Col de l’Ospedale.

Schleck's Leopard Trek team led the charge to bring them back and after seven climbs, Frank Schleck made his move with nine kilometres of the stage to.

Frank Schleck raced to win in a time of five hours, twenty one minutes and two seconds, some sixteen seconds ahead of Movistar's Vasili Kiryienka and with four seconds for the win, he now has a twenty second advantage going into tomorrow's time trial.

Bradley Wiggins finished 42nd, with Steve Cummings 88th, David Millar (pictured below) 89th and Alex Dowsett 90th

Fabian Cancellera won the E3 Prijs Vlaanderen - Harelbeke this afternoon in Belgium.

The Swiss rider surged away from the peleton to finish a minute ahead of Omega Pharma Lotto's Jurgen Roelandts.

Roger Hammond was 90th with Daniel Lloyd 91st and Mark McNally 102nd.,
