Sagan Wins Tour De Suisse Stage 6

Liquigas's Peter Sagan won the sixth stage of the Tour De Suisse this afternoon.

A 198km stage from Wittnau to Bischofszell saw a five man break of R Bertogliati (TT1), V Reynes (LTB), T Vinther (SAX), M Montaguti (ALM) and B Cooke (OGE).after 34kms. it was then reduced to four when Bertogliati who was the best placed rider in the General Classification was called back.by his Spider Tech team.

Montaguti took the first sprint of the day.and the quartet were still clear in front when they started on the final lap of a circuit finishing in Bischofszell.

Montaguti also took the second sprint ahead of Reynes and Cooke with 18kms to go.

This was the last stage in the race for a bunch sprint so it was important that the escapers were shut down. With ten kilometres to go, the gap was 55 seconds.

Mauser, Michael Barry and Peter Velits chased the escapers down. Montaguti and Troels Vinther was the only ones fighting the on-coming peloton with four to go.

Ben Swift (pictured below) was brought up by Team Sky as was Oscar Freire and Peter Sagan.

Sagan and Swift took the final two corners and it was Sagan who took another win in this race ahead of Swift and Davies in a time of 4.30.08.

Rui Costa keeps his leaders jersey ahead of tomorrow's time trial.
