Liquigas's Peter Sagan won the fourth stage of the Tour De Suisse today.

Stage 4 was 188.8kms long from yesterday's finish at Aarberg to Trimbach/Olten.

Nine riders in Martin Kohler (BMC), Grégory Rast (RadioShack-Nissan), Ruben Perez (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Sébastien Minard (AG2R-LaMondiale), Sergio Miguel Paulinho (Saxo Bank), Javier Mejias (Team Type 1-Sanofi), Brian Vandborg (Spidertech), Dario Cataldo (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) and Mathew Hayman (Team Sky) had broken away on a wet afternoon.

They were three minutes clear which meant that Omega Pharma's Dario Cataldo who was 1.15 down on race leader Rui Costa was now the leader on the road.

Paulinho, Kohler, Mejias and Vandborg tried to attack as the Movistar led peloton closed the gap to the escapers to 31 seconds.

Cataldo caught those four and then set off on his own but with 25kms to go, he was caught with Lars Nordhaug of Team Sky who then dropped Cataldo.

BMC's Greg Van Avermaet and Martin Elmiger of AG2R.went after the Sky rider and caught him with five to go.

Two kilometres later, the peloton caught up with the trio and a sprint for the finish was on.

Peter Sagan went and took his third win of the race in a time of 4.35.55 ahead of Rojas and Albasini. Steve Cummings was tenth.

Rui Costa keeps his leader's jersey.
