Movistar's Nairo Quintana won the fourth stage of the Tour De San Luis in Argentina.

Curuchet, Gaday, Arango, Presa and Johnny Clarke were the day's escapers, taking a lead of 6.40 after 60kms of a 168.7km stage from  El Potrero de los Funes to Alto del Amago.

It was down to 3.20 as Juan Curuchet took the points on the first Meta Sprint at Toro Negro. ahead of Gaday and Presa after 103kms.

The second sprint was at Monte De Oro after 146kms and this time, Julian Gaday of the Argentina national team took the points ahead of Curuchet.

Things started to go up hill and with the escapers caught shortly after the sprint, BMC's Peter Stetina was first over the El Embalse climb at 157kms.

Nairo Quintana was second on that climb but he got past Stetina and went away with Sergio Godoy and stayed away to take the win, just after he took the ten points on the El Amago, in 4.15.33 with Godoy second, Atapuma third, Moyano fourth and Rubiano fifth.

Interest turned towards where the race leader Phillip Gaimon of the Garmin Sharp team was and he came home eighteen, behind young British rider Adam Yates in his first professional race who was tenth, to finish 4.15 back.

That meant that Gaimon had four seconds in hand and he goes into the fifth stage in the lead.
