Phinney Wins Tour Of Poland Fourth Stage

BMC's Taylor Phinney won the Tour Of Poland Fourth Stage.

A 231.5km stage from Tarnów to Katowice saw nine riders initially break before being pulled back.

Miguel Minguez Ayala (Euskaltel-Euskadi), Dirk Bellemakers (Lotto Belisol) Matthieu Ladagnous (FDJ) Cesare Benedetti (NetApp-Endura), Fabio Duarte (Colombia), Jacek Morajko (CCC Polsat), Kamil Gradek (Poland), Pawel Franczek (Poland) then took over and had a lead of 4.40 which was down to 2.50 with 60kms remaining.

The race moved onto the final four 12.3km circuits of Katowice, with the peloton which included race leader Rafal Majka, some 1.16 back.

Kamil Gradek had enough and went away with 21kms to go. He was caught and wth 7.7kms to go, Taylor Phinney of BMC shot clear.

He stayed away but the charge was on lead by Cannondale and Orica Green Edge. Phinney was ahead going unfer the flam rouge and he kept going to win in a time of 5.40.17 ahead of Steels Von Hoff and Hutarovich.

Rafal Majka (Saxo-Tinkoff) keeps his leader's jersey.
