Last updated : 18 June 2011 By Kev Monks

Peter Sagan won the eighth stage of  the Tour De Suisse.

The final day of proper racing ahead of tomorrow's time trial saw stage eight leave Tübach in the direction of Schaffhausen.

The stage was less than ten kms old when Luca Paolini (Katusha), Francisco Ventoso (Movistar), Jan Barta (NetApp) and Jaroslaw Marycz (Saxo Bank-SunGard) managed to escape the clutches of the peleton and broke away.

It was a lead that was over four minute as we approached the final fifty kilometres.

That was down to a minute some thirty kms later and by the twelve kms to go mark, the teams were getting their sprinters towards the front for what was shaping up to be a bunch finish.

Leopard Trek and Vacansoleil had riders of a group about thirty strong at the front as the rain came down in Schaffhausen. Team Sky's Ben Swift was in the mix but it was Peter Sagan who took his second stage victory in a time of 3hr 52 mins ahead of Matt Goss and Ben Swift.

Damiano Cunego goes into the final time trial tomorrow one minute and thirty six seconds ahead.
