Lampre's Sacha Modolo took victory on Stage 3A of the VDK-Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde (Three Days Of De Panne),

With Gert Steegmans of Omega Pharma Quick Step in the lead of the race after picking up plenty of bonuses yesterday, Stage 3A was a 109.7km stage which started and finished in De Panne.

The stage which started without Andy, Fenn, Arnaud Demare, Oscar Gatto, Dries De Vreese and Jonny Hoogerland, saw Segers, De Man, Steels, Thomson and Maaskant, go clear after 25kms and take a lead of 1.45.

They stayed clear until the final fifteen kilometres when good work from Katusha, Lampre-Merida and Giant-Shimano reduced their advantage to less than twenty five seconds.

MTN Qhubeka's Jay Thomson and Segers went off on their own but were caught with 4.5kms remaining.

There was a big crash but the sprint trains of Lampre and Giant Shimano avoided that and it was Lampre's Sacha Modolo, who sprinted to victory for the second consecutive stage in 2.22.20, ahead of Guardini, Van Hummel, Van Bilsen, Matzka, Van Staeyen, Ruffoni, Kristoff, Chicchi and Reguigui.

Gert Steegmans keep his lead going into the final 14.3km time trial.
