Australian Michael Matthews won the Vuelta Ciclista a La Rioja in Spain.
A 164.7km race which started and finished in Logono saw Bilbao, Belda, Minguez, Rubio, Rovira and Vigil get away and take a lead of 2.30 after 42kms.
Their lead went out to 3.45 after 65 kilometres before the peloton decided that was enough and started to bring them back.
The peloton, lead by Orica Green Edge had their lead down to forty seconds inside the final fifteen kilometres.
Now, it was only a matter of time before they were caught and with five kilometres to go, the escapers were dealt with and the sprint was on.
Orica Green Edge brought up Michael Matthews and he took the win in this 1.1 race ahead of Lasca and Barbero.
