Luka Megzec of Team Giant Alpecin has won the second stage of the Tour Du Haut Var in France.

Ben Gasteur of AG2R was in the lead for this 194km stage which started and finished in Draguignan, which was minus the Cult Energy team who had been the victim of a robbery which had seen bikes and equipment stolen from a team truck.

It was a hilly stage which started with a couple of attacks before Jimmy Turgis (Roubaix - Lille Métropole) took the first sprint and then launched a new breakaway with Albert Timmer (Giant - Alpecin), Steven Tronet (Auber 93) and Serge Dewortelaer (Veranclassic - Ekoï).

That break was caught as Albert Timmer (Giant - Alpecin) took the first crossing of the GPM de Tourtour.

A new group of Johan Le Bon (FDJ), Maxim Belkov (Katusha), Yannick Martinez (Europcar), Anthony Turgis (Cofidis), Nikolay Mihaylov (CCC Sprandi), Ignatas Konovalovas (Marseille 13 KTM), Julien Guay (Auber 93), Antoine Demoitié (Wallonie - Bruxelles) and Serge Dewortelaer (Veranclassic - Ekoï) took to the front.

They managed to keep clear with Ignatas Konovalovas (Marseille 13 KTM) taking the climb on the col de la Grange with seventy kilometres left.

With a lead of 1.10, Belkov took the second sprint. However, the riders decided the time was right to attack each other and Johan Le Bon (FDJ) went taking a five second lead on Turgis and ten seconds on Belkov, Guay and Demoitié.

The peloton caught up to everyone bar Le Bon who was eventually caught as he started on the côte des Tuilières.

Davide Rebellin (CCC Sprandi Polkowice) took that climb before the peloton came together for the final couple of kilometres.

Under the flam rouge and Luka Megzec of Team Giant Alpecin got away to take the win ahead of Phillipe Gilbert of BMC and aptiste Planckaert of Roubaix Lille Metropole, followed by Ladagnous, El Fares, Bookwalter, Hivert, Molard, Vuillermoz and Tcatevich.

Ben Gastauer of AG2R continues to lead the race ahead of Gilbert and Hivert.
