Kristoff Wins Tour Of Qatar Fourth Stage

Alexander Kristoff of Katusha recorded his second victory in the Tour Of Qatar with victory on the fourth stage.

Etixx Quick Step's Niki Terpstra was in the leader's Gold Jersey after his victory in the time trial for a 165km stage from Al Thakhira to Mesaieed which started seventy minutes early due to high winds.

Dmitriy Gruzdev (Astana), Jaco Venter (MTN) and Jarl Salomein (Topsport) got into a lead after fifteen kilometres and were 2.45 clear before Katusha started to work on the front of the peloton.

The lead had gone out to 3.30 after 46kms of racing before Theo Bos crashed in the peloton.

After 76,5kms, Jarl Salomein took the sprint as the pace dropped from 50.2kmh for the first hour and 31.9kmh for the second hour.

Lars Boom and Heinrich Haussler crashed and Sir Bradley Wiggins had a mechanical before Dmitriy Gruzdev took the second sprint after 136.5kms.

Tinkoff Saxo took over and the escapers day in the lead was over with twenty kilometres remaining.

It came down to a sprint and Alexander Kristoff won in 4.15.57 ahead of Peter Sagan, Niklas Arndt, British rider Adam Blythe of Orica Green Edge and Nicolla Ruffoni.

Niki Terpstra continues to lead the General Classification by six seconds from Maciej Bodnar.
