AG2R Sylvain Georges won the sixth stage of the Tour Of California today.

A 186km stage left Palmdale heading to Big Bear Lake on another warm day saw seven escapers in Sylvain Georges (AG2R), Yukihiro Doi (Argos-Shimano), David Boily  (SpiderTech), Jeremy Vennell (Bissell), Andrew Bajadali (Optum) and Sebastian Salas of Team Optum who took the first four King Of The Mountains Climbs to confirm his winning of the King Of The Mountains Jersey for the race.

Salas and Georges were away at the front, some three minutes plus ahead of the peloton containing race leader David Zabriskie and four stage winner Peter Sagan who again was the favourite for this stage.

Sylvain Georges went away on his own and was some 2.46 ahead of a three man group including Peter Weening, Vennell and Keldermann with 17kms to go.

The 28 year old Georges took the final intermediate sprint of the day, some ten kilometres from the finish.

The gap was coming down all the time with five teams on the front. Georges was two minutes clear as he reached the five kilometres to go mark.

Georges kept going as Jens Voigt attacked followed by Peter Sagan. However, Georges kept going and won in a time of 5.07.06 with Sagan second and Velits third.

David Zabriskie stays in the leaders yellow jersey.

Tomorrow's stage seven is from Ontario to Mount Baldy and is 126kms long.
