Fonseca Wins Boucles De la Mayenne Stage One

Armindo Fonseca has won the first stage of the Boucles de la Mayenne race in France.

With Team Europcar's Jimmy Engoulvent taking the prologue in Laval in 5.48 to wear the leader's jersey for this 198km stage from Renault Saint-Berthevin to Bonchamp-les-Laval. nine riders were in the main break.

Inside the final ten kilometres and that was down to seven in Teunissen, Fonseca, Delaplace, Dassonville, Belli, Seeldraeyers & Honig who were being persued by a group of twenty riders who were half a minute back whilst the peloton was three minutes further down the road.

The chasing group got to within fourteen seconds but the seven riders were able to scrap it out for the victory and it was Armindo Fonseca of Bretagne Seche Enviroment who won ahead of Matteo Belli and Mike Teunissen of the Rabobank Development team, who becomes the new race leader.
