The fifth stage of the Tour Of Oman has been abandoned.

Stage Five was due to have been a 151.5km stage from Al Sawadi Beach to Ministry of Housing but temperatures of forty one degrees and a sandstorm meant that the stage was altered.

The first climb and downhill were neutralised and the stage now consisted of three laps of 29.5kms plus the final stretch to Ministry of Housing, making it 95kms long after a 10km neutralised sector.

Then with winds of over 70kmh, the stage was changed again so that only two laps were to be riden.

The stage started but soon stopped as the riders and officials discussed the conditions and the race was neuralised until the finish line.

Lampre's Rafael Valls keeps his lead in the race going into the final stage.
