Cannondale's Peter Sagan was denied his third consecutive victory in the inaugural Tour Of Alberta when BMC's Silvan Dillier beat Tvetcov and the Slovakian at the end of stage two.

A 178.8km stage from Devon to Red Deer with David Millar on the attack. The Scot was soon reeled in and a new break which featured Dennis, Ludvigsson, Caruso, Tvetcov, Bobridge, Burghardt & Ilesic took over as 53.1 kilometres of racing were completed in the first hour.

Race leader Peter Sagan had a mechanical as the first sprint came up, allowing Rohan Dennis to take the full points on offer.

With 69.5kms, it was Gruppo Compacto before Eric Young took the second sprint.

As soon as the sprint was done with, BMC's Silvan Dillier & Serghei Tvetcov of Jelly Belly went away, taking a 5.30 lead with 48kms to go.

Tvetcov took the King Of The Mountains climb before a group of twenty just in front of the peloton brought the gap down to two minutes.

Diller and Tvetcov kept going and were still thirty seconds ahead going under the flam rouge.

Diller timed it right and took the win ahead of Tvetcov whilst Sagan won the sprint for third place ahead of Kroupis.

Peter Sagan continues to lead the race ahead of Ludvigsson.
