Demare Wins 4 Jours de Dunkerque Stage 3

FDJ's Arnaud Demare completed a hat-trick when he won the fourth stage of 4 Jours de Dunkerque (Four Days Of Dunkirk) and his third in succession.

Six riders were away on this 179.1km stage from Oignies to Liévin and it was Polka Dot jersey wearing Julien Duval, who took the second of four King Of The Mountains climbs with 40kms to go.

Their lead of 1.48 dropped before AG2R's Biel Khadri went away on his his own with Gazvoda following after jumping out of the peloton which was minute behind them.

AG2R's Riblon and Julian Duval who came up to take second in the third King Of The Mountains climb with 19kms left.

Jean Lou Piana, who was twenty seconds down on the race leader Arnaud Demare, was the next to try and catch Khadri, who was still 36 seconds ahead with 14.1kms left.

Jose Goncalves (La Pomme Marseille) caught Khadri on the final climb of the day with 7.9kms to go. However, Khadri pushed away before he was joined by Accent Jobs' Jean-Pierre Drucker who took the final climb of the day's points.

Into the final kilometre and it was a bunch sprint with Vacansoleil at the front. However, FDJ took over and Arnaud Demare was brought to the front to win his third stage in successive days in a time of 4.29.48.

Demare beat team mate Geoffrey Soupe and Robert Sinkeldam and continues in the leaders pink jersey, some sixteen seconds ahead of Sinkeldam.
