Mark Cavendish was again beaten in the sprint on the third stage of the Tour De San Luis in Argentina.

Stage three which saw Dani Diaz in the leaders jersey was a 176.3km stage from Concarán to Juana Koslay.

Six riders in Ismael Laguna, Guido Palma, Giacomo Berlato, Lucas Lopardo, Kiel Reijnen and José Rodríguez formed the first main break of the day and got a maximum of four minutes clear with Palma taking the first sprint.

The peloton started to pull them back and the gap was down to 1.05 with 32.3kms to go.

However, just after Rodriquez took the second sprint, the six escapers were caught.

This set up the sprint and Mark Cavendish was in the mix but it was  Colombian Fernando Gaviria of the Colombia-Coldeportes who came up and took the win in 3.38.44 with Cavendish of Etixx Quick Step second and Sacha Modola third, followed by Hutarovich, Grosu, Marini, Canola and Gaday.
