Edvald Boasson Hagen of Sky won the Criterium Du Dauphine third stage this afternoon.

A 167km stage from Givors to La Clayette saw Luis Angel Mate (Cofidis) and Egoi Martinez (Euskaltel-Euskadi) get away from the start and build up a six minute lead.

After Tony Martin crashed, Mate took the three climbs in the early part of a stage which was one for the sprinters. Giovanni Bernadeau of Europcar had managed to take some points on the mountains and he will be in the King Of The Mountains jersey tonight.

Attention was now on the yellow jersey which saw Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins go into the day a second ahead of BMC's Cadel Evans. They were 3.45 down on the front two with 90kms to go.

The gap stayed around the three minute mark as Team Sky along with Argos-Shimano and FDJ continued to work at the front.

With less than sixteen kilometres to go, it was all over and with a kilometre and a half to go, Phillipe Gilbert attacked. However, Edvald Boasson Hagen of Sky was brought to the front and he took the win ahead ahead of Gerald Ciolek (Omega Pharma-Quickstep0 and Borut Bozic (Astana).

Bradley Wiggins keeps his leaders jersey by a second from Cadel Evans.
