Andrea Guardini Wins Tour Of Langkwai Stage Seven

Andrea Guardini won stage seven of the Tour Of Langkwai today.

One hundred and twenty five riders started the start from Kuantan and after an early break by two Malaysian team riders, Travis Meyer (Orica), Cyril Gautier (Europcar) and Nakajima (Aisan) took over at the front of this 149.8km stage from Kuantan to Dungun.

Nakajima struggled with their pace and Mayer and Gautier had built up a lead of 5.40 after 44kms and the first hour of racing.

With the rain coming down, their lead had dropped to 3.35 by the time of the first sprint of the day after 50kms which Meyer won ahead of Gautier, Harrif and Manan.

Gautier took the points on both the fourth category climbs before the Frenchman and Mayer were finally caught after two hours in front.

The final sprint came after 122.6kms and Anuar Manan who llies second in the sprint competition, beating Mauro Richeze and Pieter Weening.

Sprinting was now the order of the day and Orica Green Edge and Omega Pharma Quick Step got their men to the front but it was Astana's Andrea Guardini who won in a time of 3.37.17, beating Francesco Chicchi, Aidis Kruopis, Allan Davis and British rider Andrew Fenn.

Julian Arredondo of the Team Nippo - De Rosa leads the race from Pieter Weening by a minute and fifteen seconds with two stages to go.
