Wiggins To Lead The Tour Of Britain

British cyclist Bradley Wiggins will ride in the Tour Of Britain which starts on Saturday.



Wiggins, who won the British Time Trial Championships in Buckinghamshire last weekend, is in a strong field which will see many of those who took part in the Tour De France participating along side the cream of  British talent.

As well as the major professional teams including Wiggins' Garmin Slipstream team and Colombia HTC, who will not field Mark Cavendish as he is currently in the Tour Of  Missouri, British Team Sky will enter a team.

Six British riders in Geraint Thomas, Steve Cummings, Pete Kennaugh, Chris Froome, Ian Stannard and Russell Downing have all signed up and the team has today signed ten more who have been named as Edvald Boasson Hagen, Thomas Lövkvist, Kurt Asle Arvesen, Simon Gerrans, Juan Antonio, Flecha, Kjell Calström, John Lee Augustyn, Greg Henderson, Las Petter Nordhaug and Morris Possoni.

The tour of which you can see highlights on ITV4 starting on Saturday at 7pm, has the following stages

Stage 1 Saturday, September 12  Scunthorpe - York Distance: 172.6 km

Stage 2 Sunday, September 13    Darlington - Newcastle Gateshead  153.3 km

Stage 3  Monday, September 14   Peebles - Gretna Green 153.8 km

Stage 4 Tuesday, September 15  Blackpool 148 km

Stage 5 Wednesday, September 16  Stoke On Trent 134km

Stage 6 Thursday, September 17 Frome to Bideford 183.7km

Stage 7 Friday, September 18 Hatherleigh-Yeovil 159.7km

Stage 8 Saturday, September 19 2009 London 92.5km
