The recently formed Coventry Market Movers a team formed by stall holders in Coventry Retail Market convincingly beat a Bob Mansfield side 7-1 in the final to win their first ever trophy.

Coventry Market Movers/Shoekings, may be market stall-holders by trade, but they take their football very seriously, and so will the opposition from now on. The team came together in June, when Bill Duffin of the Shoekings stall heard about the Chamber of Commerce Power league 5-A-side Football Tournament and suggested the enter a team.

"It was Bill, trying to get people involved in something and doing it together", said Captain Neil Moran. "So we entered the competition, had one disastrous training session, where we had more injured players than fit ones".

Things soon improved though, and they ended up topping their group, securing them a place in the knock-out stages of the competition at Woodlands School.

"The support has just been fantastic", Neil said, "we have had so many from the market coming along and supporting us, as well as some hilarious team newsletters courtesy of Kath Harrison. The final itself was a great night, and next day everyone couldn't wait to get to work, because the banter was so good. The truth is nobody had given us a chance, we thought if we won a couple of games that would be good enough, but as things progressed, we thought, hang on, we can win this, and in the end we did 7-1 and ended up scoring 53 goals for and only conceding 3 in the whole competition, not bad for a brand new team!
