2-Tone @ 30 plaque unveiling as the Specials return.

As a prelude to the glorious return of the Specials to their hometown, Borders Bookshop, Arena Park Coventry in association with Pete Chambers 2-Tone @ 30 are hosting a week of FREE 2-Tone related events.

Saturday 9th May (from noon)- Pete Chambers will be signing copies of his book 2-Tone-2, and one lucky purchaser will win a copy of the book signed by the Specials!

Tuesday 12th May (7.00pm)- Borders will be hosting a 2-Tone pop quiz in Starbucks. Think you know 2-Tone, come along and find out.

Wednesday 13th May (7.00pm start). Wow Improv present a 2-Tone themed Comedy improve night, the most off the wall idea yet, get there early as places in Starbucks are limited.

Thursday 14th May The fifth 2-Tone Trail plaque is unveiled at the Rocket pub at 4.00pm (sponsored by Shoekings of Coventry Market), celebrating Horizon Studios that were opposite and (where much of the 2-tone body of work was produced.) Specials legend Nev Staple and Bad Manners star Buster Bloodvessel doing the honours.

At night also on Thursday 14th May At The Rocket Pub-Warwick Road-(doors open at 7.00pm) The Allskas are playing a live gig and everyone is invited to the CD launch of their charity single "In Our Coventry Home". DJ Steve 'Cardboard' Eaton will be spinning the ska and dub and we expect a few Specials guest here too, and will be a great way to get you in the mood for the Ricoh concert next night. This is a free, non-ticket gig, so please just turn up, but come early.

Friday 15th May, (2.00 to 4.00 pm) on Borders the Allskas will be appearing at Borders, to play a short set and promote their single, and get you in the mood for the concert at night.

Saturday 16th May (8.00 till late). You can have even more ska and 2-Tone if you get yourself down to The West Indian Centre, Spon Street, for a free party to honour the Selecter for receiving a prestigious star on The Coventry Walk of Fame. Members of the Selecter will be in attendance as will DJ Cardboard, there's even going to be 2-Tone memorabilia on sale.
