Former Coventry City player Craig Pead has signed for Coventry Sphinx.

Pead (pictured below) had his professional career which had seen him in the PFA Team Of The Year whilst at Brentford wrecked by a knee injury. This means that whilst he cannot play professional football, he can play the game at a lower league level.

Pead, is also a qualified football coach with SoccerRockz coaching school which he runs with Coventry City's Gary McSheffrey and former Sky Blue Tom Cudworth, who has also signed for Coventry Sphinx along with his brother Jack.

Pead and the Cudworth's are just some of the players that manager Danny McSheffrey and his backroom team have brought to Sphinx Drive for the new Midland Alliance season which starts with a trip to Willenhall Town tomorrow.

Speaking about his players, Danny McSheffrey told the CT: "I'm delighted with the lads I have brought in. "They'll give the experience we were short of at crucial times last season and certainly give us different options over the pitch."
