We Were A Bit Below Par - Rioch

Coventry City U18's boss Gregor Rioch felt his side were below par against West Ham United in the home 0-0 draw on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Rioch said: " "To be honest I thought we were a bit below par in the first half.

"We lacked a bit of a cutting edge and didn't really create any work for their goalkeeper but after the break the lads got more into it and the second 45 minutes were much better.

"It was a bit of a lesser performance from us with the ball after our win over Fulham but where I was pleased was our workrate when we didn't have possession.

"We pressed West Ham and never gave them a moment of peace and while our chances to score were thin on the ground the boys' work ethic off the ball made it equally difficult for the opposition which was pleasing.

"I've said to the players that there will be days like this where the passes don't quite come off or where it's a bit difficult to get into your normal rhythm but what's important is that you make up for that in different ways and in how hard you work to make it just as difficult for the other team and they did that fantastically well."
