Closing Sections Will Improve Atmosphere

Coventry City have said that closing the blocks 13/14 and the corner section between the Tescos and CT Stand when a crowd of below 20,000 is expected will improve the atmosphere.

Chairman Ray Ranson told the club website: "We are trying to build something here at Coventry and that is impossible without the support of our fans at home matches.

"You only have to look at the atmosphere against Birmingham, Wolves and Blackburn to see what a huge difference it makes to the team.

"But we don't want those games to be one-offs, we want them to become the norm here at the Ricoh Arena. The reason we have closed off the corners for season-ticket holders is to have our supporters closer together to generate that kind of atmosphere even when the crowd is 17,000 or 18,000.

"I've chatted with Chris Coleman about this and we agree that the best thing for the team is to have the best possible atmosphere inside the Ricoh for each and every game."
