They have never played in the top flight but were FA Cup semi-finalists in 1984 and League Cup Semi-Finalists in 1965 and 1974. Their nickname is the Pilgrims and their manager is Ian Holloway.

ON THE GAME
Said Iain Holloway: "Yes, we had six points last season but Coventry are a different kettle of fish under Iain Dowie. "He's already got one promotion (Crystal Palace) in his top pocket which was an outstanding achievement. "It goes to show what you can achieve at this level with a consistent run of form. "Win after win after win - Roy Keane at Sunderland did exactly the same.
"Yes, Iain Dowie is a fantastic manager and Coventry are just a bit of a sleeping giant, with that ground. "I know there are all sorts of rumours: they might be taken over and so on. "But I know if you talked to Coventry fans, they'd be expecting to go up.
"I remember they went down with little Gordon Strachan, so they've been there or thereabouts for years, haven't they? "They're now trying to get themselves there and with that stadium, they've got half a chance. "If they can get a team which matches it Ricoh Arena, then that's a big scenario. "But it's all about the team, because it doesn't matter how lovely your ground is, it's about the team.
"But we don't want Coventry to have a nice day."
