Coventry City ‎Youth team are through to the FA Youth Cup Second Round after a 3-0 victory over Peterborough Northern Star.‎​

The Sky Blues took on a Peterborough Northern Star side, whose first team are in the UCL League on a wet evening at Nuneaton and a side which beaten Grantham Town on Thursday night.​

Jason Farndon, assisted by Brian Reid, took no chance against a side which could have caused an upset and fielded a strong team which included George Thomas and James Maddison, who was involved in the opening minute feeding Ben Stevenson for a shot.​

George Thomas blasted over ‎before the Sky Blues won two corners in the seventh minute against a Northern Star side which defended in numbers.​

A long ball from Kelly-Evans found Stevenson who won an eleventh minute corner. Kyle Barnett rose to meet the flag kick but the ball was hacked off the line. ​

Star, in white shirts and black shorts, won a corner in the thirteenth minute which Corey Addai was able to catch.. City went up the other end and won two corners ​

A great ball from Jacob Whitmore set up James Maddison, who was booked for a foul from behind, for an eighteenth minute shot on the‎ turn‎.​

A 23rd minute corner led to George Thomas getting into the area and being fouled twice. The referee decided it was a free kick and the ball went across the area and out for a goal kick.​

City with Callum Maycock pressing, had Thomas fire over in the 26th minute.​

Maddison sent a great ball through for Stevenson to volley over and in the 28th minute, George Thomas fired over before Kyle Spence fired at Dunmore.​

A rare Star attack was cleared by Kyle Barnett for a throw. ​

More pressure from Thomas brought a goal kick for Star, a booking for Warrener as the Sky Blues continued to completely dominate the game without finding the net.​

Whitmore won a 42nd minute corner which found Stevenson on the edge of the area. He hit a rasping shot which was pushed over for a corner that was headed over by George Thomas.​

Finally, on the stroke of half time, James Maddison drove ‎home from a corner beating the keeper on his left to give City a lead that they totally deserved.​

The rain was pouring down as Star brought on King and Redhead for the start of the second half. ‎​

Two minutes into the second half and City increased their lead when James Maddison curled a free kick from twenty odd yards low past the diving Dunmore.​

In the 54th minute, it was three thanks too Kyle Spence playing a neat one two with Thomas and curling past Dunmore's left hand.‎

PNS, playing everything through Harley Williams, won a 57th minute corner. Spence countered and won City a corner.​

With Sambou on for Maddison, who had put in a good shift, Thomas fired at Dunmore ‎and Kelly Evans and Stevenson both had chances ‎before Cian Harries went off to good applause when he was replaced by Luke Bromley with 22 minutes left.​

Star had Sean Roberts fire well wide in the 71st minute with a shot that saw him patted by his team mates as if he he scored.​

George Thomas also left to good applause when he was replaced by Dan Smith with sixteen minutes left. ‎​

A bad tackle by Joe Bull on Stevenson who had a fine game, forced the midfielder to be carried off on a stretcher and the Sky Blues had to play the remaining eleven minutes with ten men.​

City continued to fashion chances but the Sky Blues had already booked their trip to either Rochdale or Nantwich Town in Round Two.‎
