Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team failed to treat their fans to an Ice Hockey Easter eggstravanza with a 4-2 home defeat to Newcastle Vipers in their final Elite League game of the season.

Before the game, a banner to mark their Elite League title and one to remember late trainer John Crook, were hoisted to the roof of the Sky Dome.

With Neal Martin and net minder Trevor Koenig rested, the vistors took a first period to lead to delight their hundred strong travelling support.

Jon Weaver and Barrie Moore both scored in the second period with the visitors also finding the net twice.

Steve Fone played well in goal but could not stop the visitors adding a fourth in the third period.

Blaze will host a testimonial game for James Pease on Tuesday night at the Sky Dome with a Blaze Grand Slammers v Blaze Select match before starting their play-off matches next weekend.

The home leg of the Play-Off Quarter-Final game will be at the Sky Dome next Sunday at 6
